,,The Selection'' by Kiera Cass

,,The Selection'' was written by Kiera Cass. I decided to read this book in English, because I read it already in Polish. I really liked and I resolved to read it again. This time for English.

The book is set in a future America, now known as Illea. The kingdom of Illea is the result of war.  China invades the US and renames it the American State of China. Later, no longer under the rule of China, the country cannot bear to keep the name it was given, so Illea is the union of The United States, Canada and some Latin American countries.
To prevent riots Illea was split into 35 states  and in each state there are 8 castes, with people classed in terms of professions. As the prince of Illéa comes of age, the country selects 35 girls to take part in the Selection to try and win his heart.
America is a Five, which consists of the entertainers (Musicians, Artists). Despite pressure from her mother and younger sister, America has no interest in entering the competition. Her mother later bribes her into the Selection by offering to let her keep half of what she earns at her jobs. She is chosen for the Selection. America travels to the palace where she has to compete with 34 other girls to win the prince's heart.
The plot of the novel Kiera Cass is based on the concept of reality show and the history of Cinderella. I love such motives. The book turned out to be light and fun to play, and although deep hidden in her political topic related to the caste system and the history of the country, however, theme selection is the most strongly accented, and for me personally - the most attractive.
,,The Selection'' is incredibly good book. Her reading gave me great pleasure. It is a fascinating love story emerging in the limelight and politics, which creeps into every nook and cranny of our lives.
